The Los Angeles Dodgers swept the first game of a three-game series against the Oakland Athletics.
The Dodgers earned a 7-3 victory over the Oakland Athletics in the first game of the 2023 Major League Baseball World Series at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, California.
The Dodgers were led by a defending MVP infielder and an All-Star pitcher. Freddie Freeman, who started at first base and batted second, went 5-for-4 with a home run, a double and two RBIs. Lance Lynn, who also started, gave up three home runs over seven innings, but struck out five, walked one and allowed three runs to earn his seventh win of the season.메이저사이트
The balance was broken in the fourth inning. Freeman led off with a walk. After Freeman’s single to right, Will Smith and Ahmed Rosario followed with back-to-back walks. Max Muncy then drew a walk and Chris Taylor followed with a single.
James Outman then walked on a pitch to center field to make it 1-0. Kike Hernandez followed with an RBI single to make it 4-0.
Freeman singled to center field with one out in the fifth, but there was no follow through and the inning went scoreless.
The Dodgers got on the board in the top of the sixth when Lin hit a solo shot to left field off Gelbrecht. It was the first run of the game. In the seventh, Rooker hit a solo shot to center and Diaz a solo home run to right-center field.
But that was as close as Lynn would get. After Mookie Betts’ solo homer in the bottom of the seventh, Freeman led off with a single to right. Smith struck out swinging and Rosario drew a walk to put runners on first and second.
A wild pitch followed after Muncy fouled out to third. Taylor followed with a high fly ball to center field. Outman then drew a walk to bring home Freeman from third.
In the eighth, one out later, Betts hit a double down the left field line and Freeman followed with a wedge single.
The victory came behind strong pitching from Hernandez, the 2020 National League MVP, Freeman, a three-time National League Silver Slugger, and Lin, a 2012 National League and 2021 American League All-Star.
