Oh Se-geun (36, 200 cm), who has made a new home in SK, is waiting for the start of the new season.
The biggest issue in KBL in the offseason was the transfer of Oh Se-geun. Oh Se-geun, who qualified as a free agent (FA), left Anyang KGC (currently Anyang Jeonggwanjang), where he had worked for 11 years, and found a new home at SK in Seoul. His contract period was three years, and the total compensation was 750 million won. Currently, he is training with SK in Irvine, USA.
Oh Se-geun said, “It’s been less than a month since I started training. He continues to rehabilitate, and we are seeing his patterns, etc., from the week before he came to the United States. He can’t do 5-on-5 training yet. He is adapting to the court by touching the ball and running on the court. He was thinking of playing a practice game in the U.S. at the earliest, but it seems too early. “He hasn’t been able to train much with the team, so I think he will have to go back and get fit through practice games,” he said, sharing his current physical condition.
Oh Se-geun’s first official game is expected to be the KBL Cup tournament scheduled for October. SK coach Jeon Hee-cheol and Oh Se-geun both have the same thoughts. He also had the experience of returning to the court at a similar time after building up his body in the off-season during his time at KGC.
“At KGC, we trained to that level. (Jeon Hee-cheol) The director also told me to do that. He needs to be in good shape to adapt. It’s important to get along now, but I think we’ll have to adapt as the season begins. I am learning (SK basketball) by watching from the outside. There are many similar patterns, and seeing how they work, I think I will be able to adapt quickly.” These are the words of Oh Se-geun.
After finishing the pre-season cup competition held in Chiba, Japan, SK is continuing to strengthen through practice games in the United States. Oh Se-geun also wants to play on the court, but is holding back while looking at the regular season. Instead, he is building his body step by step, even training at night.
Oh Se-geun said, “I was very itchy from Japan. I’m not in a body that can run, so I’m holding on. (Song) Changyong and (Huh) Ilyoung encourage me to run, but I will save it and do well in Korea. I train at night every day. Even though it’s hard, I’m going to keep trying. “When I come to field training, I’m training while paying as much attention to my body as possible,” he said.먹튀검증
The background to Oh Se-geun’s transfer was advice from Heo Il-young. Heo Il-young also transferred to SK after playing for 12 years at Goyang Orion (now Goyang Sono). It is the same case as Oh Se-geun.
Oh Se-geun said, “Brother Il-young was also a franchise player. In such a situation, it was not easy for him to leave the team. He asked around a lot. In particular, I asked a lot of questions about Ilyoung’s older brother because he was his closest friend. I think he made up his mind because he said a lot of people liked SK. There was always pressure. Since he changed teams, there will be a lot of talk around him. You have to overcome it yourself. You have to enjoy that part too. There is no urgency. “The director and other staff are so good, so I think I just have to do well,” he said with a smile.
When he transferred to SK, he reunited with Kim Seon-hyung, with whom he had 52 consecutive wins during his time at Chung-Ang University. After entering the KBL, all of them established themselves as top players, winning MVP awards.
Oh Se-geun said, “When I run, I run well. But (Kim) Sunhyung will solve the problem on his own even if we don’t run behind him. There isn’t much to talk about. It’s been a while since we met, so I don’t think there will be any problems if we just talk about the details and get along. He did not hide his expectations, saying, “Seong Seong is a player who thinks a lot positively, so if we get along well, there will be good synergy.”
