Noh Si-hwan is the central batsman of the eagle corps. In the last 2019 rookie draft, he was nominated as the 3rd overall pick in the 2nd 1st round and was considered the best power hitter prospect at the time.
He has burst potential for the 2021 season. In 107 games he had a batting average of .271 with 18 home runs and 84 RBIs for an OPS of .852. Although he could not play full-time due to an injury, it was a year that showed Noh Si-hwan’s potential. 메이저놀이터
However, he could not continue his upward trend. He appeared in the most games with 115 games, but had a batting average of .281 with 6 homers and 59 RBIs. His batting average rose, but his home runs plummeted. OPS also fell to 0.737.
In a recent phone call with My Daily, Noh Si-hwan said, “The 2022 season was a year of great regret. I went through trial and error as I didn’t get better results than I thought. It was also the year I realized that I was going to become a person.”
After the end of the season, Noh Si-hwan goes down to his hometown of Sangsan for personal training. He was from Gyeongnam High School and worked hard together with Lotte infielder Han Dong-hee and others. He quickly improved his condition, and is currently digesting his batting training.
Noh Si-hwan explained, “As soon as the spring camp started, live batting schedules were set, so there was an order to quickly build up the body. So, he entered technical training and is also doing batting training.”
In particular, Lee Dae-ho, who retired at the end of last season, also comes to the training ground where Noh Si-hwan attends. He says he spares no advice to his juniors.
Roh Si-hwan said, “Since Lee Dae-ho is busy, he comes to me about once a week, and every time he gives me a lot of advice. When I asked him about batting during the season, he said, ‘Look at the ball and hit the ball.’ He said that he had been training since he was young, how to beat pitchers, etc. There was a reason he became the best hitter in Korea,” he admired and said, “(Lee Dae-ho) said, ‘Through my senior, I learned how to train properly. I realized that I had to do it.’ I can’t explain in detail, but I’m doing the training method that suits me through the advice of my seniors.”
The batting form was also modified. He said, “Previously, I was in a relaxed posture with my hands on my shoulders, but this season I changed it to a posture where I put my hands comfortably behind my ears without putting them on my shoulders. This posture is the most comfortable form for me while playing baseball.”
He worked out steadily for about two months with a modified batting form and a training method that suited him. Noh Si-hwan will return to Daejeon on the 26th to prepare for the US spring camp.
What is the goal Noh Si-hwan wants to achieve this season? He expressed confidence, “I don’t want to set figures for batting average or home runs. One thing I want to achieve is to play 144 games, a full-time season, without injury. I’m in good shape, so I’m looking forward to this season.”
