Jeong Sang-bin (21‧ Minnesota United먹튀검증) unfortunately missed his birthday.
Minnesota United defeated St. Louis City 1-0 in the 6th round of the 2023 American Major League Soccer (MLS) held at City Park in St. Louis, USA on the 2nd at 9:30 am (hereinafter referred to as Korean time). With this, Minnesota is in 4th place in the Western Conference with 3 wins and 2 draws (11 points). In addition, as the second round has not yet been played, they have one less game than the other teams.
Minnesota was able to win thanks to Luis Amariya’s penalty kick (PK) winning goal in the 33rd minute of the second half. After the opening, they ran an undefeated streak of 5 games (3 wins, 2 draws) and gave the season’s first loss to ‘Leader’ St. Louis (6G‧ 15 points).
There was some sad news. On March 23, Jeong Sang-bin, who joined Minnesota, was excluded from the list. The game was held on April 1, local time, and coincidentally, it was Jung Sang-bin’s birthday (April 1). On a monumental day, it was not even on the list, raising questions.
Turns out, it was because of the visa. Andy Grader of the Pioneer Press, a Minnesota local magazine, explained, “Jung Sang-bin, who has just joined Minnesota, failed to obtain a visa ahead of the St.
Jeong Sang-bin left Suwon Samsung in January 2022 and transferred to Wolverhampton (England). And he was immediately loaned to Grasshopper (Switzerland) for 1 year and 6 months. However, he had difficulties playing due to frequent injuries, and the loan contract was terminated on March 18th.
Jung Sang-bin did not return to Wolverhampton and pursued a contract with Minnesota. And he was stamped shortly thereafter. Minnesota officially announced on the club website on March 23, “We have recruited Korean striker Jung Sang-bin. We signed a contract until 2026 with a club option with a three-year contract period.” The known transfer fee was 2 million pounds (approximately 3.23 billion won).
He was aiming for an early debut, but due to visa issues, he had to wait until next week. It was regrettable that he was excluded on his birthday, but he could not help it. Jung Sang-bin wants to add strength to Minnesota’s blast.
