Right-handed pitcher Tyler Appler, 30, is ending his life in Taiwan.
According to CPBL STATS, which covers baseball in Taiwan, Appler was released by the Fubang Guardians on Nov. 21. According to a team press release, Appler decided to terminate his contract early due to personal reasons and return to the United States to pursue other opportunities.
Appler started nine games in the CPBL this season, going 3-1 with a 2.89 ERA. His walks allowed per inning (WHIP) was 1.23. He pitched 56 innings, the third most on the team, before giving up full-time digestion. According to local media, Appler’s contract was initially for “half a season.
CPBL STATS reports, “With Appler’s departure, Phubang has begun the search for a new foreign pitcher. The head coach told the media that they are currently looking at five to six foreign pitchers who play in the Mexican League and independent leagues.먹튀검증
Appler is a familiar name to Korean baseball fans. He played for the Kiwoom Heroes in the 2022 season, going 6-8 with a 4.30 ERA in 33 games (140 and one-third innings pitched). After the season, there was a lot of speculation about whether he would re-sign, but Kiwoom signed Ariel Furado as a new foreign pitcher and found a pairing for Eric Yokishi.
With the KBO out of reach, Appler turned his attention to a new challenge in Taiwan. Appler’s departure leaves Fubang with Anderson Franco (formerly of the Lotte Giants), Tanner Anderson, and Matthew Kent. Franco is a KBO veteran who went 9-8 with a 5.40 ERA with Lotte in the 2021 season.
